Downtown Saturday Night
Four acts at three different venues within walking distance of each other
For those who still insist there’s nothing to do in Wichita Falls, TheFUSE presents just a portion of the live music events we attended last Saturday night.
We started with a live performance by Adam Helenschmidt, the very first performer to take the stage at Wichita Falls Brewing Company’s brand new Beer Garden stage.
Oh, you want something a little rowdier? Just a single city block away, Stone Oven Pizza hosted another of their free music shows, which often feature young bands and performers, and this night was no exception.
A who’s who of the local music scene was in attendance, including performers galore and Texas Brew Radio. Although we couldn’t stay long, we got to catch a performance by Head Harvester, a metal band featuring Kolton Price on vocals and guitar, Jack Haulburt on bass, and Simon Gilmore on drums. (Simon is the son of Kevin Gilmore, drummer for It Hurts to Be Dead, and he is a chip off the old block.) Simon’s parents watched proudly from the crowd as he tore it up on the kit.

After catching Head Harvester’s set, we walked back to the Iron Horse Pub where we caught two great bands.

Coda Armour opened the show with their patented brand of 80s metal selections, including a lot of stuff you don’t often hear in the clubs these days… Dio, Ratt, and others.

The headliners for this show were Local Zero, one of Wichita Falls elite cover bands. We’ve become accustomed to their two-singer attack and a great selection of pop, country, and rock covers that are sure to get you dancing.

If that’s not enough to convince you, keep in mind, there were plenty of other live events happening this same night at other venues around town.
Something is happening in Wichita Falls.
